Meet Janelle
Janelle Lee (Vergara) Austin is an Austin-based filmmaker specializing in directing, writing, and script supervision. Her student film at Texas State University won Best Texas Short Film at the Comedy Film Festival in April 2024, received an Honorable Mention at the ATX Short Film Showcase, and is nominated for several awards at the 2024 Austin Under the Stars Film Festival. Her other IMDB credits include producing, acting, and script supervision, notably serving as executive producer for Julie Baby, starring her daughter, Betty Jo Austin.​
She is an avid philanthropist, serving on the Board of Directors for Women in Film and TV Austin. She leverages her event production expertise to create meaningful experiences and networking opportunities for members. She also volunteers as a screener for the Austin Film Festival, Ethereal Horror Fest, and the Atlanta Film Festival.

Janelle enjoys photography, and her series Powerful Women Create Powerful Women is on display at the Alkek Student Gallery. She has several scripts in development and plans to begin pre-production on B.B. y Gordo by the end of the year.
